DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.0 for Mac
DaVinci Resolve Studio is Blackmagic Design’s paid, all-in-one post-production application for Mac: Cut and Edit timelines, Fusion VFX, Color grading, Fairlight audio, and Deliver—plus in version 21 a dedicated Photo page for still-image finishing with the same node-based grading toolset.
One project from assembly to master
Resolve is built around pages rather than separate apps. You assemble on Cut or Edit, grade on Color, composite in Fusion, mix on Fairlight, and export from Deliver without round-tripping XML or rendered intermediates. Blackmagic Cloud and multi-user projects let teams share bins, grades, and timelines when a facility runs collaborative workflows.
What Studio adds on Apple Silicon
The free Resolve edition covers a wide edit-and-grade path, but Studio unlocks the DaVinci Neural Engine, advanced noise reduction, extra Resolve FX, stereoscopic tools, immersive audio, and AI features such as IntelliSearch and CineFocus. Blackmagic documents native support on Apple M-series Macs; published macOS requirements for version 21 call for macOS 15 Sequoia or later on Apple Silicon, with 8 GB RAM minimum or 16 GB when using Fusion heavily. AI analysis, Fusion, and high-resolution RAW benefit from 32 GB unified memory in real projects.
Photo page and stills in the same grade
Version 21 adds a Photo page so photographers and colorists can manage albums, tether supported Canon and Sony cameras on macOS, and grade stills with node-based Color tools, LUTs, and Resolve FX. Albums flow into Cut, Edit, Color, and Fusion—useful for hybrid shooters who deliver both motion and stills from one shoot.
Version 21.0 and licensing
Studio is a one-time purchase (currently listed at $295) with no subscription. Blackmagic notes that project libraries remain compatible with Resolve 20.3.2, but any project opened in 21 cannot be reopened in 20.3.2—back up libraries before upgrading. Version 21.0 is the final release after the public beta cycle; download from Blackmagic’s site, not the Mac App Store.
