Airmail — lightning-fast mail client for Mac
A third-party email app for macOS that combines a unified inbox, keyboard shortcuts, and deep integrations so you can triage Gmail, Exchange, and IMAP accounts without living in a browser tab.
Bloop’s Airmail targets power users who juggle several mailboxes and want one polished window instead of Apple Mail plus provider web UIs. The Mac App Store build supports iCloud, Microsoft Exchange, Gmail and Google Workspace, IMAP, POP3, Yahoo, AOL, Outlook.com, and Live.com, with alias addresses, local-only accounts, and imports from Apple Mail, MBOX, EML, and EMLX. A unified inbox lets you switch accounts quickly; conversations can group by thread ID or subject, and quick reply keeps short answers inline so you do not lose context in the full composer.
Workflow, rules, and integrations
Day-to-day use leans on Gmail-style shortcuts, custom global hotkeys, and one-step label, move, archive, and folder actions. Rules automate incoming or outgoing mail with IF/THEN filters and can sync across Macs via iCloud. Search spans multiple accounts with realtime filters; signatures support Markdown, HTML, and rich text per account. Sending options include delayed send, redirect, resend, and bounce, while advanced users can import or export EML and drive actions through AppleScript.
Airmail also hooks into productivity apps—OmniFocus, Fantastical, Evernote, Reminders, Calendar, Things, Todoist, and others—so messages become tasks or events in one gesture. Plugins extend the client with read receipts, S/MIME, or GPG when you need them. Handoff, a Today extension, and share/action extensions keep mail reachable from elsewhere in macOS. Visual themes, minimal versus extended layout modes, and system-linked dark mode help the UI stay readable during long sessions.
Airmail Pro, AI add-ons, and version 26.0.25
The base app is free on the Mac App Store with limited capabilities for new users—typically one mailbox without a subscription, per the vendor’s current Pro model. Airmail Pro unlocks multi-account use plus premium features such as the redesigned Smart box, expanded search and rendering, extra themes, custom actions, and a more flexible layout. Subscriptions are $7.99 per month or $49.99 per year on the U.S. store listing (pricing varies by region); one subscription can sync across Apple devices on the same Apple ID when iCloud Drive integration is enabled. Legacy buyers who purchased Airmail 3 on or after January 1, 2019 may retain Pro access without a new subscription, according to store notes. AI Composer is a separate in-app purchase ($14.99/month and other tiers listed in the store) for LLM-assisted drafting—not bundled with Pro.
Version 26.0.25 requires macOS 14.6 or later, runs on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs, and ships at about 41 MB. The official What’s New text for this build lists only bug fixes—no advertised redesign or feature launch—so 26.0.25 is best treated as a stability patch on the 26.x line. If you need a actively documented roadmap, compare Mimestream or Apple Mail; if you want a customizable, integration-heavy client with a long Apple Design Award pedigree, Airmail Pro remains the paid tier inside this release.
