Mimestream
A native Swift email client for macOS that talks to Gmail through the Gmail API instead of generic IMAP, so inbox categories, labels, filters, and search behave like the web client while feeling like a Mac app.
Typical Mac workflow
You add one or more Google accounts, then triage Primary mail with Gmail categories, color-coded labels, and list filters for unread or starred messages. Keyboard shortcuts, swipe gestures, Send and Archive, undo send, templates with variables, and markdown composition speed through replies without leaving the thread. Multiple accounts sit behind Profiles with separate notification schedules, or you enable a unified All profile when you want every inbox in one list.
Mimestream blocks trackers from common email services, supports snooze, vacation responses, calendar invite handling, and Continuity Camera attachments. On macOS 26 and later, Mimestream Private Push can deliver notifications with less polling. Data stays on your Mac with direct Gmail API connections rather than a third-party sync cloud. The app is sold only from mimestream.com with a 14-day trial, not through the Mac App Store.
Licensing and version 1.10.4
Mimestream requires macOS 12 Monterey or later and needs an active subscription after the trial: about $49.99 per year or $4.99 per month for individual use on up to five devices, with optional group plans for teams. Version 1.10.4 (build 392), released 3 July 2026, is a patch build on the beta update channel that fixes draft infinite-sync loops, dark mode message reformatting, and category-inbox toggle animation glitches during onboarding. The public releases page at mimestream.com has not yet been updated beyond version 1.10.2; per-build notes for 1.10.4 come from the Sparkle appcast.
