Dropover is a Mac App Store utility that adds temporary floating shelves for drag-and-drop: you collect files, folders, links, text, and images in one place, then move, share, or process them in a single action.

How it works on Mac

You open a shelf with a shake gesture, keyboard shortcut, menu bar item, or—on supported macOS versions—Control Center controls added in the 5.2 line. Drop items from Finder, browsers, or other apps onto the shelf, preview and reorder them, then drag everything to a destination folder, Mail, AirDrop, or a custom action. Shelves can be named, color-coded, docked to screen edges, and closed when done. Dropover keeps references to files by default (move on drop, copy with Option) rather than duplicating data until you choose otherwise.

Sharing and power features

Built-in Dropover Cloud can upload shelf contents and copy a share link; you can also connect iCloud Drive, S3, Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, or Imgur. Pro unlocks advanced workflow tools such as Shortcuts integration, folder monitoring, Share Extension support, custom actions, and the Command Bar. The app is free with a 14-day full trial; after that a short delay appears before shelf use unless you buy the one-time Dropover Pro in-app purchase (listed at $6.99 on the developer FAQ; regional App Store pricing may differ).

Version 5.2.4

Release 5.2.4, dated June 2, 2026 on the developer site, is a small maintenance update. It fixes Dropover Cloud falsely reporting a maximum file count, stops some Siri Shortcuts from opening Settings unexpectedly, and shows an in-app notice when a newer version is available. Broader 5.2 features—redesigned Instant Actions, macOS Tahoe icon updates, and Control Center shelf controls—shipped in 5.2.0; see earlier What’s New pages for that generation. Requires macOS 13.0 or later per the App Store listing.

Dropover 5.2.4 for Mac — Drag & Drop Shelf Utility

Pros & Cons Show details

✅ PROS

  • Dropover solves a common macOS pain point—juggling multiple files across Finder windows—by staging items on a lightweight floating shelf until you are ready to drop them elsewhere.
  • The shake gesture and menu bar access make the shelf feel native and fast without keeping a permanent Finder window open.
  • Built-in sharing, Instant Actions, image resize, ZIP creation, and multi-provider cloud upload reduce context switching for routine file tasks.
  • Dropover Pro is a one-time Mac App Store purchase (not a subscription) after a generous 14-day trial, which is inexpensive compared with many productivity utilities.
  • Version 5.2.4 addresses real friction in Dropover Cloud file limits, errant Shortcuts behavior, and update visibility in Settings.

❌ CONS

  • Dropover 5.2.4 adds almost no new features; it is reliability and settings polish, so upgraders already on a stable 5.2.3 build may notice little day-to-day change.
  • After the trial, free users face a 3-second wait before interacting with shelves unless they buy Pro, which can interrupt flow-heavy workflows.
  • The app is Mac App Store only; there is no direct developer DMG or business volume licensing path outside Apple’s store rules.
  • Cloud uploads and some integrations send files through third-party or Dropover Cloud services, which may not suit strict offline or enterprise data policies.
  • Control Center shelf controls and the refreshed Tahoe icon require newer macOS releases from the 5.2 line; older Ventura setups miss those conveniences even on 5.2.4.
✅ What's New in 1.4.8 Show details
  1. [Dropover Cloud file limit fix] — Cloud uploads no longer incorrectly report that the maximum number of files was exceeded when the batch should be valid.
  2. [Siri Shortcuts settings fix] — Some Shortcuts that should run shelf workflows no longer open Dropover’s Settings window by mistake.
  3. [Update available indicator] — The Settings window now tells you when a newer app version is available, so you do not need to check the App Store manually.
  4. [Settings refinements] — Minor improvements in Settings accompany the update notice and shortcut fixes listed for 5.2.4.
  5. [Maintenance release scope] — Developer notes describe 5.2.4 as a small reliability update, not a feature release; shelf, Instant Actions, and Control Center changes remain from 5.2.0–5.2.3.
