A professional visual-effects plugin suite for Mac NLEs and compositors—filters, generators, transitions, and titles installed and licensed through the free FxFactory app rather than as a single standalone editor.
How editors use it day to day
You install the FxFactory desktop app, then browse and activate FxFactory Pro so effects appear inside supported hosts: Final Cut Pro, Motion, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve (Resolve builds from Blackmagic’s site, not the Mac App Store edition). In Final Cut Pro and similar timelines you drag effects, transitions, or generators from the browser onto clips; many Pro tools include build-in/out animation controls, Source and Mask sections (face detection, person contour, object tracking), spotlights, trackable picture-in-picture, camera shake, glow presets for titles, and a large library of looks organized into consolidated categories such as color correction and distortion.
FxFactory Pro 7 (current major product line) adds AI-based depth analysis and masking across plugins that already had Source and Mask, a redesigned Edge Work effect, Isolate Depth for depth-based keying, and new procedural generators—Nebula, Wormhole, and Light Streams. Under-the-hood tracking and color-management fixes shipped with that release; older licensed users can keep prior Pro features without buying the paid upgrade, while new Pro 7 plugins/features stay behind the upgrade gate according to the vendor.
Versioning, hosts, and licensing
FxFactory Pro 7.0 officially requires FxFactory 9.0.4 or later and macOS 13.5 or later. The FxFactory 9.0.4 installer notes state it is required for FxFactory Pro 7 (and upcoming Nodes 4). Catalog strings such as 9.0.4.1 typically refer to the FxFactory host/build alongside Pro; Noise Industries does not publish a separate public changelog specifically titled “Pro 9.0.4.1.” Current FxFactory downloads may already list a newer host (for example 9.0.5) for upcoming products—confirm the About/build of your install. Host floors for the FxFactory 9 line generally include Final Cut Pro 10.6+, Motion 5.6+, Premiere/After Effects 22+, and DaVinci Resolve 20+ for VFX/audio plugins as documented on the download page.
New licenses are commonly listed around $199; upgrades from prior Pro versions are offered around $99 inside the FxFactory app. Apple Silicon Macs with ample RAM are recommended for AI/depth-heavy effects. Free trial access is available via the FxFactory download.
