A Mac App Store archive utility from Elimisoft (listed as RAR Extractor – Unzip File) that expands and creates compressed files when macOS’s built-in Archive Utility stops at RAR, 7z, or obscure download formats.
Typical Mac workflow
Drop an archive onto the app or Dock icon, double-click a file to extract or preview, or batch-decompress a folder of downloads. The app claims support for more than 60 formats—including RAR, ZIP, 7z, TAR, GZIP, ISO, CAB, JAR, APK, PKG, ACE, ARJ, and winmail.dat from Outlook—plus encrypted archives. Quick Look–style preview lets you inspect contents before unpacking, and you can pull individual files without extracting everything.
Compression flows cover password-protected ZIP, 7z, and RAR creation with AES256 encryption. Extra utilities include extracting images from PDFs and handling split or less common extensions some peers and email attachments still use. The interface was redesigned in the 13.6 line with multilingual support across 13 store languages.
Licensing and version 13.8
The base app is free on the Mac App Store with optional VIP subscriptions (weekly, monthly, annual) or a lifetime unlock for expanded use. It requires macOS 11.5 or later on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. Version 13.8 (June 2026) is a maintenance build; the developer lists only unspecified bug fixes in the official What’s New text.
