Metro Exodus 1.0 for Mac

Metro Exodus is 4A Games’ story-driven first-person shooter: leave the Moscow Metro, cross post-apocalyptic Russia on the Aurora train, and survive open wilderness chapters inspired by Dmitry Glukhovsky’s novels.

Native macOS port

After the 2019 Windows release, 4A Games shipped native macOS and Linux builds on 14 April 2021 through Deep Silver and Plaion. The Mac edition is sold on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Mac App Store—not a Feral Interactive port.

Gameplay and editions

The campaign mixes gunplay, stealth, crafting, and survival across large non-linear maps. The Mac App Store listing offers a Gold Edition bundle with the base game plus story DLC The Two Colonels and Sam’s Story. Steam also sells the base game, Gold Edition, and Expansion Pass separately.

Graphics and technology

The Mac/Linux port routes graphics through Vulkan via MoltenVK to Apple’s Metal API. Early builds target Intel Macs; on Apple Silicon, the game commonly runs through Rosetta 2 while still meeting vendor guidance when settings are tuned.

Enhanced Edition on PC only

Steam documents a free Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition with ray tracing for Windows owners with RT-capable GPUs. That package is not the same as this macOS 1.0-era port and should not be expected on Mac.

Official Mac minimums: macOS 10.15 Catalina, Intel Core i7-7820, 16 GB RAM, AMD Radeon Pro 560, about 1080p at 30 FPS on Medium. Version 1.0 and catalog “fix”

Build 1.0 marks the initial Mac release train. The Mac App Store later posted version 1.2 (May 2021) with updated store requirements text only, not a detailed gameplay patch list. If your catalog lists 1.0 fix, treat fix as a catalog maintenance label, not an official 4A Games version name.
