    CleanMyMac X 4.15.2 fix

If the error “Cannot open the program” appears, enter in the terminal (the application should be in the “Programs” folder):

    xattr -cr /Applications/CleanMyMac\ X.app && codesign –force –deep –sign – /Applications/CleanMyMac\ X.app

Just click Apple > System Settings > Privacy & Security > Scroll down to Security > find this app > click Open Anyway > enter Admin username and password

Google “how do I use Gatekeeper on a mac?”

Step disabling start-up items. Here is the terminal command to reload the helper. You need admin rights and a basic knowledge of bash or zsh:

      sudo launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.macpaw.CleanMyMac4.Agent.plist

randomly asking for Bluetooth access when it wasn’t even running. Previous versions didn’t do that. something’s fishy here.

Broken version, asks for password constantly. There is a fix for premium users on appstorrent, but it says: Closed at the request of the copyright folder. Back to previous version.

Seems to be working fine for M2 Pro Max/MacOS 14.4.1.

    My install process:
    1. Turn off WiFi
    2. Quit the CMMX Menu App
    3. Use an app like AppCleaner to completely remove all files from the older version of CMMX
    4. Empty Trash with said files
    5. Restart your Mac
    6. Double click the CMMX zip installer
    7. Move the CMMX.app to the Applications Folder
    8. Launch CMMX
    9. Restore the CMMX settings (ie turn off auto update etc, allow to folder privileges)
    10. Turn on WiFi
    11. Restart you Mac

This seems to have worked for me. So far no password or serial # prompts.

Works perfectly on Mac M1 Somoma 14.4.1

If you are getting constant password requests, stop disabling your start-up daemons. Previous versions of this software (on this site) have the terminal code for re-enabling the required ‘helper’ or you can use App Cleaner and Uninstaller by Nektony.

Or you work for MacPaw and you write this sh_t to get people to pay for your software.

You are messing with the programs that load when you start your machine, and don’t know what you are doing.

Please find someone that understands MacOS to help you.

    Bonjour,

    Merci d’avance.

“CleanMyMac X.app” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.

Very well done update. Except that I interrupted a process of cleaning unnecessary files because it was asking for authorization in a loop. And since whatever the version of CleanMyMac, the cleaning process never ends and the script does too. Maybe with a future version…

The solution is not to disable the helper in your start-up items. I bet if you install “App Cleaner and Uninstaller” and look in your Launch Daemons it will show that at some point you’ve decided you didn’t want many things to load, of which CleanMyMac4.agent.plist will be one of them?

Hello, when I installed it it worked, but after a while it asked me for a password constantly, seeing your comment I realized that I use App Cleaner and Uninstaller and I usually remove apps that run at startup, I gave permission to CleanMyMac4.agent.plist again and it worked again, thank you.

You are welcome. I suspect this is the situation for 90% of the people saying it doesn’t work.

I downloaded on my old Intel Mac Air and it worked perfectly, but now with my new M3 it pops up “Safari can’t open the file” and “there is no application set to open document”. I thought it was because it’s on a new M3 Mac Air, but the same message pops up on the old Intel Mac Air.

    Can anybody help me?

I think continuous password prompts are a result of SIP. Is there any way to run CleanMyMac without disabling SIP?
